At Reydon Primary School, the health, safety and wellbeing of every child is our top priority. We expect all staff, governors, parents, carers and volunteers to share this commitment to safeguarding our pupils.

We listen to our children and take seriously what they tell us. All school staff are trained in Child Protection, and children are made aware of the adults they can talk to if they have any concerns. Staff are trained to look out for signs of physical/emotional harm, neglect and mental health issues and are required to report these to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
The procedures which we follow have been laid down by Suffolk Safeguarding Partnership and the school has adopted a Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy in line with this.
There may be occasions, where we have to consult other agencies. Where possible our concerns are discussed with parent/carers first before any referrals are made,; unless we believe that this action could be contrary to the child’s welfare.
The Designated Teacher for Looked After Children is Sandra Foxwell, Head of School who can be contacted on the office number, 01502 723084.

Prevent Strategy
As part of Reydon Primary School’s commitment to safeguarding and child protection we fully support the Government's Prevent Strategy, and take guidance from Teaching Approaches to help build resilience to extremism.
The Prevent strategy is a Government Strategy designed to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism. It:
- Responds to the ideological challenge we face from terrorism and aspects of extremism, and the threat we face from those who promote these views
- Provides practical help to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism and ensure they are given appropriate advice and support
- Works with a wide range of sectors (including education, criminal justice, faith, charities, online and health).
At Reydon Primary School we ensure that we teach the children about the Prevent Aims. This is done through quality circle time and PSHEE activities. In each year group we teach our children to be safe and to recognise the possible dangers they may face. Teachers ensure that this is done in a sensitive and age appropriate way. All staff have been trained to recognise signs of Extremism.
Our designated Prevent Strategy lead is: Sandra Foxwell.
Jill Adams is our Prevent Safeguarding Governor.

Whistleblowing
Reydon Primary School is committed to the highest possible standards of honesty, openness and accountability. It seeks to conduct its affairs in a responsible manner, to ensure that all its activities are openly and effectively managed, and that the School’s integrity and the principles of public interest disclosure are sustained.
In line with that commitment, all members of staff and those working on behalf of the School who have serious concerns about any aspect of the School’s work are encouraged to come forward and voice those concerns to the Headteacher. Staff not only have the right but also a duty to report any improper actions or omissions, particularly where the welfare of young people may be at risk. Where any member of staff decides to report a serious incident within the scope of this policy, whether anonymously or otherwise, this will be treated as a ‘protected’ disclosure. Staff members should feel reassured that they can raise concerns in accordance with this policy without fear of victimisation, subsequent discrimination or disadvantage.
